Costs of fostering

I was posting a while ago about how much it costs to foster and this really hit me tonight.

Idling along, looking at bookings for the summer. How much our trip out to Brittany would cost us this year.

Sudden realisation.

When we go out mob handed, it's an IVECO high top long wheelbase minibus with 9 seats to hold all of us plus the assorted and varied paraphernalia of our life.

This year my eldest three are most likely getting summer jobs meaning I could cost up a trip taking an MPV instead of the IVECO.

The difference in ferry cost was staggering. Then factor in fuel then factor in everything else.

Yet spending summers in Brittany has for us been about the cost of living as much as anything else.

It can be so much cheaper to live out there than here.

So long of course as you do not try and live like you do in the UK.

Cereals, crisps and fizzy pop are awfully dear.

You would not dream of stopping off at the pub for a beer, well not with 7 kids in tow.

The children have to put up with limitless fruit and fruit juice instead.

Live healthy, save money!

For larger families I have often wondered if it might be worth simply renting in France for the summer.

We certainly live a lot cheaper out there and save more than the fare.

But our living costs with the three extras are higher and it gives us the freedom to be away for a month!
